I've been re-learning or reminding myself on my Kata's lately, it's interesting that I used to have my Kata firmly in my mind in a ""non-linear"" way, what I mean by that is I could conciously remember the kata from/at any point and even work it backwards without thinking about it, but at the moment, I'm finding I need to work through all of my Kata in a linear fashion, once I get moving unconciously I find my self just doing the kata with no problems, But I feel I need to get back to where I knew the Kata's so well that I could start any kata from any point and even do the kata backwards if needed, once I reach this point I can work on each movement and ensure I fully understand the application of each move and start fine tuning my kata where I believe it should be for Nidan. Possibly I am trying to be too perfect, but it is an expectation I have of myself, and it is where I will be when I do grade for Nidan at the end of the year. I do not want to grade for Nidan and 'just get there' I intend to excel and Grade to Nidan and be at the level I expect of a Nidan grade. |

Another excellent post by Steve Pavlina Complaining I thought Steve had been a little slow on posting lately, but he certainly makes up for it with some very high quality posts recently. I'm trying not to make it too much of a habit just providing links to other sites articles but Steve has written a couple lately that make a lot of sense, I read them and think ""yes I can see that in people around me, and think I'm glad I'm not like that"". Perhaps I should have a closer look at myself, and make sure what I see in others is not just a reflection of myself..?? |

A fantastic article by Steve Pavlina's Personal Development for Smart People This is an article I'd like to give to a lot of people, but usually when a person gets to this point they are not really in a mind set that is willing to accept direct advice, I've found especially with my own situations like this, I need to get to a point where I go looking for information or advice to help me then I'll take it onboard and think about it. So I've posted the first part of it with a link to the full article for anyone who is at this point of their lives and is looking for some advice |
